Basic ~ DTACT Course 101

 

Course Goal:

To add to and optimize self-defense skills and introduce control techniques that include physical and operational behaviorology methods that allow for de-escalation and control over dangerous or unacceptable behaviors with non-compliant subjects.

 

Description:

This course is designed by experts in martial arts and behavioral sciences, with decades of field experience in these areas.  The course will mix science, physical defense, and psychological methods to give the student optimal survival skills with an eye towards liability mitigation for the department or agency.

Course Outline:

16 hrs.* (Four Modules) Each module consists of: Lecture – Demonstration – Practical.

The knowledge, techniques, and tactics are cumulative. Each module will review the previous modules and apply the information to the current module.
The first modules are defined by new information that will be accumulated and applied in later modules in the demonstration and practice blocks.

  •  Module One: (4 hrs.)

  Lecture:

         Defining the strategic goal

         Apply specific de-escalation techniques

         Response Levels

         Environmental considerations

         MAID ~ Minimizing Area, Involvement, Duration

         IDR ~ (Identification, Decision, Reaction)

  Demonstration:

         Anti-Isometrics theory

         Speed, Efficiency, & Accuracy

         Stance

         Position & Range

         Introduction to Filipino Martial Arts

         Sinawali & Redonda

  Practical

  • Module Two: (4 hrs.)

  Lecture/Demo: (Cont. from Module One)

         Rules of Three

         Strikes & Blocks

         Force Multiplier Tools (Kubotan/baton)

         Pain vs. Compliance Curve

  Demonstration:

         12 strikes & blocks

         Kubotan & baton uses

         Sinawali (Cont. from One)

  Practice: (Review Module one & two)

        

  • Module Three: (4 hrs.)   

  Lecture/Demo: (Cont. from Module two)

         Escapes

         Countermeasures

  Demonstration:

         Wrist & grappling escapes

         Weight shifts

         Takedowns

         Methods of control (Cuffing/zip ties, etc.)

         Baton & Kubotan for control

  Practice: All the above (Review One & Two)

 

  • Module Four: (4 hrs.)

  Lecture:

         Overview of course & explanations if needed

  Demonstration:

         Review of all modules

              Testing & Evaluation, Expectations:

                     Knowledge, Tactics, Techniques

Additional Modules:

Advanced Force Multiplier Tools: (Baton, Side handle baton, ASP, etc.)

Advanced Edged: Tools and Defense
Instructor Certification
